Cassandra was a very much admired lecturer at a prestigious university, with a PhD in her field, happily married and incredibly personable.

The challenge

Her academic record was outstanding and her achievements well documented but she now wanted to move to the business of running and promoting the university. My background in the corporate world was a good fit for her criteria and we soon found a suitable methodology for mapping her needs and deciding how to get there.

Action Taken

We agreed to close the gap between her current success and her future desires by:

• building relationships with the executive
• understanding how to communicate interest in the corporate role
• demonstrating the ability to make the transition and a significant contribution
• engaging peers and decision makers
• building influencing skills upwards

Result

Following several months of  mentoring and coaching sessions,  Cassandra was appointed as Head of the Business School.
